Our Programs

WHEA has been redesigning its integrative, project-based curriculum for the past 23 years to provide the best experiences for our students.

Starting in 2022, WHEA has implemented Structural Pathways (Tiers) to create a more cohesive, unified educational environment that would support students both academically and emotionally.

Tier One

Middle School, Grades 6-8

Tier One introduces students to project-based learning, focusing on developing foundational academic and life skills that set them up for success. The Tier One program includes core classes such as English Language Arts (ELA), Math, History, Primary and Secondary Projects, and Advisory sessions prioritizing social-emotional learning (SEL) to support the whole child. Students can self-select projects, fostering student voice and choice while engaging in off-campus learning experiences. Students can choose from diverse STEM, Marine Science, and Arts projects. Tier One projects emphasize teaching experimental design, engineering design, independent learning, and problem-solving. The school utilizes 14-passenger vans to facilitate these off-campus opportunities and build meaningful community connections.
