WHEA is a tuition-free and admissions are determined on space availability. If interest exceeds available slots for a school year, admission is on a scheduled lottery basis.

West Hawaii Explorations Academy complies with admission policies for Hawaii public schools and with all applicable federal, state and local nondiscrimination statutes and regulations.
Timeline
January
Preferred applications for returning students, siblings of returning students, and children of bona fide employees.
February
Regular applications are released via the school website.
March
The first lottery drawing occurs on the first working day of March.
April - July
Lottery drawings on the first working day in the months for resulting pool.
September
Waitlist based on the lottery draws expires on the last working day in the first quarter.
