Policies

  • The governing board bylaws are formal rules that define the board’s structure, roles, responsibilities, and procedures to ensure effective oversight, accountability, and alignment with state laws and the WHEA’s mission.

  • The admissions policy outlines the criteria, procedures, and standards for student enrollment to ensure a fair, transparent, and inclusive process that supports the mission of West Hawaii Explorations Academy (WHEA). WHEA complies with admissions policies for Hawaii public schools and adheres to all applicable federal, state, and local nondiscrimination statutes and regulations.

  • The procurement policy outlines the procedures and guidelines WHEA follows to ensure that all purchases of goods and services are conducted fairly, transparently, and in compliance with applicable laws, using public funds responsibly.

  • The financial management policies and procedures establish the framework for how WHEA responsibly handles budgeting, spending, accounting, and reporting to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

All other policies can be found in our handbooks.

  • The WHEA Employee Handbook outlines the expectations, responsibilities, policies, and benefits for staff, serving as a guide to workplace standards, professional conduct, and the school’s mission and values.

  • The WHEA Parent and Student Handbook provides essential information on school policies, expectations, procedures, and resources—serving as a guide to help families and students navigate and support a successful school experience.
